At the core of our products, we use 2 layers of puncture, stab, and cut-resistant fabric. We use 2 layers of certified 450 g/m² UHMWPE (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) knitted fabric. In the next step of the process, we select the fabric we will build around our dual-layer 450 gsm UHMWPE fabric. A Single layer of 450gsm UHMWPE is used as a industry standard, but here at STAY SAFE SUIT, we took it a step further, and we create designs that are dual-layer.
What is 450gsm UHMWPE?
450gsm UHMWPE (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) knitted fabric stands out for offering superior cut, abrasion, and tear resistance, making it an essential material for highperformance safety gear such as cut-resistant gloves, protective motorcycle apparel, and workwear.
Key Characteristics and Applications
Lightweight yet extremely durable, with excellent cut and tear resistance
Applications: Primarily designed for protective clothing in
industrial, police, and security settings, as well as
specialized hunting gear where durability and cutresistance are critical.
Physical Properties: Features high strength and moisture resistance, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, as well as wet conditions
Available as 100% UHMWPE or blends with glass fiber, polyester, or steel wire.
Processing: Suited for industrial sewing processes, typically necessitating heavy-duty needles.
Produced using a specialized, often white, knit pattern.
Usage in Industry
Protection: Most commonly used in cut-resistant apparel, specifically motorcycle jackets, leggings, and protective gloves, to ensure wearer safety in high-risk environments.
Other Uses: Also applicable to bags, backpacks, and equipment that require enhanced cut resistance beyond general use. Flexibility: The knitted construction offers a balance of flexibility and rigidity, resulting in comfortable wear
